@mrled

why cant u guys name things normal https://t.co/uyd0bTncvy

@mrled

Shower thought: could the wifi router industry normalize having a lax IoT network, and allowing devices to get on the better non-IoT network if they agree to security guarantees, including regular updates? Sort of like turning the EULA against device OEMs

DST is Daylight Standard Time, the time zone containing all parts of Earth and other celestial objects with direct line of sight to the Sun. In DST, the time is always 12:00:00 noon.

Sam Kriss is always right. Here, I'll prove it, right here with this post https://t.co/POzDsWi8k2

@mrled

The lack of programmability in voice calls is such a waste of potential. We have a smartphone, whose fans claim is literally a computer* with a phone in it. I should have voice changing apps and a button I can press to scream at the political spammer on the other end. *nah

@mrled

@joshsojoshsoj I actually read the Vox article and thought "I could see myself saying most of that stuff to my friends at the bar"

@joshsojoshsoj

@mrled Just mute the words and watch the movie when it comes out next year tbh

@mrled

Why is it so important to all of u that I learn what "SBF" and "FTX" are

@mrled

I have been thinking about this post for days and was only just able to find it again. An unrecognized classic, as far as I'm concerned. https://t.co/x0NwomBdyB

@mrled

@Jowjoso @joshsojoshsoj You can get a Kangaroom in Austin for 1/6-1/3 that price!!

@mrled

@joshsojoshsoj Just read this which links to some irl stuff that might work the same way 🦾 https://t.co/cNXdrHvhKD

@mrled

Product wish: 1. Receive emails 2. Follow every single link* 3. Get the real link instead of the slimy tracking link 4. Provide an RSS feed Someone make this, I will pay you *except the unsubscribe link, lol

@mrled

In addition to being trash scum, link tracking is fucking slow and unergonomic. Substack's link tracking practice is relevant here; it means that I have no idea where a link goes until I click there, and it takes a loooooooong time to load it. Twitter's t[.]co sux in the same way

@mrled

Instead of buying Twitter, Elon should have done shady back room deals to get the Twitter verification symbol into Unicode so you can just append it to your username. More chaos, more fun.

@mrled

@Jowjoso You should be able to report coworkers for bad sound issues and have IT reach out to them to troubleshoot. In the call, IT should record them so they know what they sound like and okay it back to them. No one thinks to check what they sound like, which sucks

@Jowjoso

when i'm ceo i will provide a 400 dollar budget for all fucking engineers to have a real fucking sound setup i do not fucking understand why everyone i work with sounds like they are speaking from the tunnel inside the fucking hoover dam jesus fucking christ.

@splendidland

how is it that they made like 50 mega man games and yet they never bothered to fix the character select screen. no matter who you pick in any of these games it always forces you to be the little blue one.

@craigaloewen

@tm65 Nope they're different! WSL 2 is a way to run a WSL distribution, this is the "build 1.0.0 of WSL in the Store" which is a different way of how you install and service WSL on your machine

@tm65

@craigaloewen Build 1.0 GA is same as wsl 2.0?

@craigaloewen

We released our build 1.0 of WSL on the Microsoft Store, taking it out of preview and making it generally available! There's also some other exciting news coming very soon, stay tuned for the official announcement!

@Jowjoso

@joshsojoshsoj yeah this is surprisingly expensive it seems like? maybe it's locale specific like they only serve the bay or something. but like, you can get a GC to organize for you and build an ADU for literally half, here. idgi

WILL CSS PLEASE DISABLE ALL FUNCTIONALITY RELATED TO SCROLLING. FOR FUCKS SAKE. I DO NOT NEED YOUR PRODUCT TO SPIN INSTEAD OF SCROLLING DOWN. I JUST WANT TO SCROLL DOWN. THANX. THANK U. THANKXS

@joshsojoshsoj

I'm sure these backyard studio homes great, but I hate that they cost $300k. If they don't cost ~$50k then I genuinely don't see the point. https://t.co/nqWv4bcIKD

@mrled

@the_prepared do you happen to know if the umbrella shades in Madinah Piazza were an inspiration for the canopies in Black Adam?

@mrled

Learned about the Madinah Piazza project from The Prepared, an EXCELLENT newsletter about manufacturing and hard tech. From this issue last month: https://t.co/kvLYL1BdGs

@mrled

Saw the movie at Alamo earlier this evening but I had to download a fucking cam for these screenshots. A cam. I feel disgusting.

@mrled

A few screenshots from the movie. Looks simpler than the Madinah Piazza project, but how they're all patterned there together seems really striking https://t.co/zQ7B5vF2w5

@mrled

Clearly they look like a different design, but the overall effect seems really similar to me. https://t.co/Uk5qc62JvV

@mrled

Black Adam has these canopy things. Are they inspired by the Madinah Piazza Shading Project? https://t.co/P82EiDUzLy

@mrled

Jesus Christ @SubstackInc, let me fucking read it first

@mrled

Just read this, very interesting. Cool to hear about hard tech startups. https://t.co/e0Z9iESD7q

@mrled

Did they name their nuclear reactor startup after the company in Half Life that opened a portal to another dimension and threatened earth with alien takeover https://t.co/B4NS43GH14

@mrled

Christ, that's depressing. Hard to imagine this happening if Twitter had changed hands 8+ months ago, I had to light campfires and beat pots and pans together to keep the recruiters at bay during the night. https://t.co/kfp0KXE6IY

@Carnage4Life

@mrled

@joshsojoshsoj More than that imo - you can't cancel a NYT sub without calling them on the phone unless you live in California.

@joshsojoshsoj

@mrled Good question. Their business model is probably like gyms: held up mostly by people who subscribe and forget to cancel. So any "pay as you go" model would kill them. But yeah, not sure 🤷

@mrled

@joshsojoshsoj I wonder what they'd have to charge to make it not cannibalize their current subs-only model
