Didn’t feel anything missing in Python 3.9* but some of this looks dope *though the 3.6 version we have standardized on at work does feel like it has some gaps https://t.co/w4RRTnXjEU

I thought hard about how to classify cruise missiles vis-à-vis other autonomous or semi-autonomous ordnance and came up with this alignment chart: https://t.co/3CWk86ZJCi

@kane

The idea of a cruise missile is going to start blurring and become obsolete as systems become unmanned and more autonomous. https://t.co/sxuLHKTpua

Sometimes only one will show up, and sometimes neither of them do. I use those share extensions all the time so this is really frustrating. (It’s worse in apps that hide the share button behind a menu, like mobile Firefox.)

@mrled

Anyone seen this before? Anything I can do about it?

@mrled

Note that you see the Pinner app in two places, one on the left of Feed Hawk and one on the right. These are actually two separate Pinner share extensions (one adds to my reading list with no dialog box, the other adds a bookmark with a dialog box).

@mrled

I have several apps with share extensions on iOS that sometimes refuse to appear, even though they’re set as Favorites. Here’s a video showing this https://t.co/HQ13jRqzEe

@mrled

Simplepin and Pinner both sometimes refuse to show up. Other extensions like Feedhawk are always there. This happens even after deleting and reinstalling the app.

I’ve never whittled anything before! It was way more fun than I expected. I was chillin at @Jowjoso’s and he put this knife and a block of wood in my hand and I couldn’t put it down.

@zeynep Ahhh, I feel for you, computer related RSI is terrible. I have a customized keyboard which includes a "mouse keys" mode -- it's not perfect, but it helps to have it in my toolbox when my hand hurts. https://t.co/KN0xkfVNdG

@mrled

I’m surprised there aren’t more product/brand Twitter accounts that use Twitter to explain the product in a pinned tweet. There are so many cool fiction and even choose your own adventure -style accounts here. Would be a cool way to explain a new product.

@zeynep

I have a vertical trackball on the left, and I'm learning how to do well with it now with my mild issues—nothing that dramatic tbh. I'm managing. But without that second elective surgery, I'd really have lost left hand function to a much larger degree. I keep thinking about it.

@zeynep

I'm okay mostly because I recovered most of the function on my finger when I managed to get a *second* elective surgery right between COVID surges—surgery had a small window when it would work, and I just made it. So much elective surgery/screening must have been lost last year.

@zeynep

When a whole hand was off limits for use, I found out that I can't write well unless I'm typing. But that's okay now because I can certainly type! So I can easily keep writing. It's the rest of the computer/phone stuff. Not too bad so far, just weird. https://t.co/MTa7OSlxsX

@zeynep

I can write no problem because I touch type which is balanced. It's the mouse/trackpad/phone reading that's right-hand heavy. Trying to control a mouse that I can't feel well (see: severed ulnar nerve) with meh-functioning finger (severed/repaired/scarred tendons) is so weird!

@delong

@zeynep voice transcription?

@zeynep

What happens when an academic's biennial "curses, I'm doing too much writing and my right shoulder/wrist is developing tendonitis, lemme switch everything including mouse to left" meets her "wait, I cut ulnar nerve and tendons on my left hand last year" moment? Details at 11.😬

@mrled

@josephkaptur (Hmm. These links here are making me want to revisit my og:image tags... the first one is to a specific key, and the second one is to my RSI background, but that isn't obvious from the Twitter preview. Maybe I can do that when I add a cool demo like you have.)

@mrled

@josephkaptur It did help a lot though! That's why I made the site - I wanted to be able to explain what kind of RSI I had, and how the ergodox/this keymap helped, so that someone else could know if it might help them. The resource I wish I'd had.

@mrled

@josephkaptur Ha well, I would never have done it, except that I was experiencing some pretty brutal RSI at the time and I would try anything. Took about a week to be able to type on it all day, and a couple weeks after that before I was as fast as on a regular board. https://t.co/POV8ReY4C5

@josephkaptur

@mrled Thanks so much!! Yours is very cool as well 😊. I have not yet had the courage to go full ergo...

@mrled

Oh, I didn't realize he was on Twitter. @josephkaptur, your keyboard layout page is really nice!

@mrled

He wrote a web page that shows how some of his favorite QMK macros work. And they're great! I want to adopt some of them into my layout.

@mrled

But more than that, I want to make a similar page for my arrow key layer. I use the arrow key layer all the time, and it might not be clear to people just how nice it is. https://t.co/02Z2t3jjan

@mrled

Oh man, what a cool idea! https://t.co/qIcaIKBMlK

@mrled

@ChrisAldrich Idk if this is exactly what you’re looking for, but I just learned that you can style an RSS file with XSL and make it look nice in the browser. Unfortunately doesn’t work with all browsers though. https://t.co/2pfx01t9eh

@mrled

@kevinmarks @reederapp @NetNewsWire @feedbin Aha, you know I saw that in the RSS validador and then promptly forgot to fix it, I’ll give that a shot too

@mrled

@julien51 @ChrisAldrich Oh no way, I use subtome every day, it’s excellent. Thanks for making it! I also include it on my page about web feeds https://t.co/gwFtbsWkse

@mrled

@ChrisAldrich Hmm this is a cool idea, I’ll think about how I could add this to my site, hmmmm

@mrled

@ChrisAldrich This is exactly the kind of conversation. I want to join :) and also, I’d love to talk to people who build feed readers. If I want to include an SVG (which promoted the question), or some other multimedia, what are best practices? That kind of thing.

@kevinmarks

@mrled @reederapp @NetNewsWire @feedbin These svgs are in img tags with full URLs - relative URLs in feeds can be a bit tricky too

@mrled

@kevinmarks @reederapp @NetNewsWire @feedbin Oh, this is a great idea, thanks. That granary feed does show the SVGs in a couple of readers I tested, including Feedbin which wasn’t showing mine! Ill play around with it some more over the next few days.
