The Switch dock has THE WORLD'S SHITTIEST FUCKING SECURITY SCREWS, a deranged three slot thing that is both less compatible and less useful than a regular Philips. https://t.co/LnH9NDGS9N
@mrled
Anyway, I got a new dock refurb from Nintendo for $40. My dock needed the updated version of their installation video, which is here: https://t.co/74ZI7diFO1
@mrled
sumtimes it feels like the nintendo dock is even larger than the original xbox controller amirite fellow gamers
@mrled
There are third party docks, but Nintendo doesn't support them, and has in the past released firmware updates that BRICK the Switch if connected to a third party dock. Incredibly shitty imo. This gets around that without having to carry Nintendo's dock around.
@mrled
It is the guts of an authentic Nintendo dock + a $12 kit from Amazon that is much smaller than the cinder block that Nintendo ships. https://t.co/WkrTsRnEEw

New synergy server https://t.co/VyPPsT8K8H
@mrled
Found an old Raspberry Pi 2 + third party HDMI display yesterday. Now it’s my synergy server ✨ please do not judge me for the nest of cables on my desk, it is to make the pi more comfortable in its new habitat, thanks https://t.co/3WYYJaYfxc

Keyboard upgrade ✨ https://t.co/znJfZD3sKd
@mrled
I'll probably do more customizations piece by piece, but this was a good upgrade, the unified color scheme makes my board look more peaceful.
@mrled
I wanted the key that triggered that layer to have a bump, like F and J tend to have on regular keyboards, so I could find it more easily without looking. When I ordered, I could get almost-black easily, so that's what I selected: https://t.co/oFFXkPlhnp
@mrled
Specifically, I have an arrow layer on my keyboard that is triggered by keys under the C and comma (,) keys https://t.co/BaaN1kBH0a
@mrled
That's also why, if you look closely, there are dark gray darker almost-black keys. The gray keys are from the grab bag, while the black ones are new. I actually like the gray color better, but the almost-black color gave me more options.
@mrled
I already had a grab bag I had gotten for macropads before, so some of the 1x1 keys around the edges came from that.
https://t.co/l71YGlyfMZ
@mrled
To do this, I just got a few different colors of 1.5x1 keys from the unfortunately named pimp my keyboard dot com (owned by Signature Plastics): https://t.co/BMXtp4pKaj
@mrled
Decided it was time for a less “lego spaceship assembled without regard to color” scheme. (New on the left with greens and grays; old on the right.) https://t.co/PV6PpsUVP1

@harveykrishna_ so I realized I could get a quick anon avi from https://t.co/0hV2U8dn4y and found this lovely gal, I'm embedded in the FB glitch art community and glitched it, and realized I could generate more so I made a bunch that vibed similarly, sort of as a play on identity, anonymity, etc https://t.co/BsoUN3RuhA
@harveykrishna_
@sadalsvvd 🤯 Wow that’s more than I expected. Any story behind these avis?
Btw I love how I even tho it’s a new avi every few days I can always tell it’s you
@sadalsvvd
@harveykrishna_ I believe it's actually in the range of ~400 or so but I think it'd be cool to have that many!

Also, oh my god if you know of any male TRRS -> 2x female TRS splitter that works without mic crosstalk, please talk to me. I think I'm going to end up having to make one, but I don't really want to lol
@mrled
Anyone with experience dealing with cell phone EMI in particular, I would love any thoughts on how you manage it? Surely there is something better than "keep your phone out of the studio"? (And if there is, can I afford it?)
@mrled
This was much more complicated than I thought it was gonna be tbh. Quite a few stumbling blocks, like powering PC mics, understanding different TS/TRS/TRRS connectors, and different types of EMI.

I wrote a long guide on using mixers to share a single mic and a single pair of headphones with multiple computers. In the COVID home office times, this has been really nice.

Fortunately this is just a USB2 A/B cable, and what it was plugged into still works
